Comparison
Best Dog Grooming Software in 2026: 8 Tools Compared
We compare the best dog grooming software for independent groomers and mobile vans on booking, client records, data import and export, and pricing model.
By the Ifa team
This comparison is for the person who will open the software every morning: an independent groomer working alone, a two-groomer salon, a mobile van doing ten dogs a day, or a shop with one bather on payroll. You need the calendar to be right and the dog’s file to be complete, and you need your existing client list to come across without retyping. We looked at seven established pet grooming software products and, last, our own workspace, with a disclosure. Prices change often, so every pricing statement below is what the vendor’s own site published as of September 2026.
How we compared
We scored every tool on the same five questions.
- Booking. Can clients book online? Does it send reminders? For mobile groomers, does it handle routes?
- Client records. Is the pet a first-class record with history, photos, groom notes, vaccination dates and behavior flags, or a note field on a human customer?
- Data import and export. Can you bring a spreadsheet of clients and pets in, and get everything back out as a plain file later?
- Pricing model. Flat per business, per user, per location or per van; whether a free plan or trial exists; whether texting and payments cost extra.
- Fit for an owner-led team. How much setup one person does before the first appointment, and what happens to the price when a second groomer joins.
Where a vendor’s site does not say something, we say so instead of guessing.
MoeGo
Best for: salons and mobile vans that want one polished system for the whole day and are willing to pay for it.
MoeGo is the tool most groomers name first. Online booking has service rules and capacity control by slot. Client profiles hold unlimited pets with photo storage, grooming history, medical notes, vaccination alerts and allergy tracking. Mobile groomers get route optimization (“one click to reorder and optimize your route”). MoeGo says it offers data transfer services during onboarding.
For a one-person shop the issue is cost and scale. The product is built for a busy multi-groomer salon, so an independent groomer pays for staff scheduling, commission calculation, payroll reports and marketing automation that may stay closed. The site does not mention a free trial; you book a demo or pick a plan.
Pricing model (as of September 2026): tiered; salon pricing per location, mobile pricing per van. Published starting price for a salon is $79 per month for Basic (up to 2 members, 300 SMS), then $149 and $239 per month per location. Mobile starts at $49 per month for Basic (1 member), then $99 and $159 per month per van. Source: moego.pet/pricing.
Gingr
Best for: a grooming salon inside, or next to, a daycare or boarding facility.
Gingr is facility software first. Its grooming plan, called Spa, has appointment-based booking, groomer-to-breed assignment so the right groomer gets the right dog, automated reminders, retail, and integrated payments. If you also run daycare or boarding, the Play and Stay plans put every service on one customer record. Gingr says it offers “multiple data import options depending on your current system”.
For a solo groomer or a two-groomer salon with no boarding, Gingr is more system than you need. SMS and payment processing are add-ons, as is employee scheduling.
Pricing model (as of September 2026): per facility, tiered by business type, discounted on annual billing. Published starting price for the Spa plan is $109 per month, or $100 per month billed annually. Source: gingrapp.com/pricing.
Pawfinity
Best for: an owner who wants a flat price with no per-user surprises, van included.
The flat model is Pawfinity’s strongest argument. Every plan includes unlimited calendars, appointments, employee logins, clients, pets and photos, so a second groomer does not change the bill. Online booking, two-way SMS and email reminders, point of sale, expense tracking and pet profiles with grooming history are in the base product. Mobile groomers get mapping and route assist. Pawfinity says client and pet migration from another system is free and that you can export your data as CSV files.
The gaps are polish and reach. SMS is a tiered add-on by volume, so the flat plan is not the whole cost if you text every client.
Pricing model (as of September 2026): flat per business, no per-user charge, a 7-day free trial with no credit card, no setup fee, month-to-month available. Published starting price is $60 per month ($55 billed annually) for Groom & Train; the Royal package that adds boarding and daycare is $110 per month. Source: pawfinity.com/pricing.
DaySmart Pet
Best for: a shop that wants the lowest published entry price from a large vendor and expects to grow into the higher tiers.
DaySmart Pet covers the standard list: online booking where the owner approves requests, automated text and email reminders, client and pet profiles, digital consent forms sent by text or email, a mobile app and deposits with card on file. Two-way texting sits on the higher tiers. A 14-day free trial with no credit card unlocks most Deluxe features.
The catch is seats. Basic includes one user, Deluxe three, Premium six, and each additional user is a monthly charge, so a two-groomer salon either moves up a tier or pays per seat. The pet site does not describe data import from other software; ask before you sign.
Pricing model (as of September 2026): tiered, with included user seats per tier and a per-user add-on above that. Published starting price is $29 per month for Basic with DaySmart payments, or $39 without; Deluxe is $69 or $89; additional users are $9 per month each. Source: daysmart.com/pet/pricing.
Groomsoft
Best for: an independent or mobile groomer who wants the essentials at the lowest flat price.
Groomsoft is a focused product with a long track record among owner-operators. It has online booking, text reminders with client confirmation, pet profiles with vaccination tracking, behavior notes, unlimited photo uploads and prior grooming history. Mobile groomers see appointments on a map and plan the route, with mileage tracked. Groomsoft lists customer and pet import as a feature and says the import from another provider is free. The 30-day free demo with no credit card is the longest trial here.
Where it falls short: texting is a metered pack you buy separately, and marketing and reporting are thin. Export is not described on the site, so confirm how you get your data out.
Pricing model (as of September 2026): flat per business, not per user. Published starting price is $29.95 per month for grooming shops and $39.90 per month for mobile groomers. SMS packs are priced separately, from $10 to $350. Source: groomsoft.com/pricing.
GrooMore
Best for: a groomer who wants no contract and already uses Square or Stripe for payments.
GrooMore serves salon groomers, mobile groomers, house-call groomers and hybrids. It has online booking with a branded page, automated confirmations and reminders, customizable intake forms, a waiting list that notifies clients when a slot opens and reporting dashboards. It takes cards through Square and Stripe rather than its own processor and syncs two ways with Google Calendar. The site says “no setup fees, no contracts” and lets you start free without a credit card.
The limits are team size and texting. The Standard salon plan includes one location and three staff; unlimited staff needs Premium. SMS is bundled per plan (400 on Standard, 800 on Premium). The site does not say how long the free period lasts and it does not describe data import in detail.
Pricing model (as of September 2026): tiered flat plans, the same price for salon and mobile. Published starting price is $49 per month for Standard (1 location and 3 staff, or 1 van) and $79 per month for Premium; Business Elite is custom. Source: groomore.com/pricing.
Square (pet services)
Best for: a solo groomer who already takes Square payments and mainly needs a booking page.
Square is not pet grooming software; it is Square Appointments plus the Square point of sale. It does the general things well: a customizable booking website, appointment reminders, prepayments and no-show fees, multi-staff scheduling on paid plans, and payments already in your hand. The free plan is a real free plan, which none of the dedicated grooming tools offer.
What it lacks is the dog. Square’s customer profile is the human. There is no pet record with its own breed, coat, vaccination dates and groom notes, so groomers keep that in the note field, and a client with three dogs is one profile with three paragraphs. There is no routing and no grooming report card. Customer export is a CSV.
Pricing model (as of September 2026): a free plan, then paid Plus and Premium tiers priced per location, with Square’s card processing fees on every plan. We could not confirm the paid tier amounts on Square’s own pricing page while writing this, so check squareup.com/us/en/appointments directly rather than trusting third-party figures.
Ifa
Disclosure: Ifa makes one of the tools compared here.
Best for: a groomer who wants the dog’s file done properly, with booking through a page Ifa creates, in chat or by phone.
Ifa is a business workspace, not a grooming app. You describe your business in plain words (two groomers, mobile on Tuesdays, every groom gets photos and a note), and Ifa proposes the records and views and the workflow between them. You check the plan before anything exists. For a groomer that means a Pet record linked to an Owner record, saved views like “due for a groom in the next two weeks,” lifecycle states from new client through active to lapsed, and scheduled automation such as a lapsed list refreshed weekly. Photos and groom notes attach to the pet’s file with preview; see /customer-files/. Booking policies, working hours per groomer, availability checks and team-created bookings exist; your team creates, reschedules, cancels and completes them. Import takes CSV, XLSX, XLS, JSON and the other common formats through a preview that flags duplicates and empty values, checks dates, then waits for your approval; the walkthrough is at /import-your-data/.
Now the honest part, because on grooming-specific features Ifa is behind the dedicated products above. There is no Google or Outlook calendar sync and nothing for routing a van, and payments, deposits, tips and invoicing are planned rather than shipped. Booking itself is flexible: groomers, tables and vans are bookable records with working hours, a policy per service sizes the slot to the groom, and every booking is checked for conflicts before it is written. Owners can book through a booking page Ifa creates or in chat on a connected channel, and a request can still come in through a public form that you confirm. Reminders are a workflow you define, sent through a channel you have connected. If card payments at pickup are a must-have today, run Ifa beside your payment tool for now. Ifa is also pre-launch. Today it is a waitlist; when it opens you preview your workspace and then pay, with no free tier. More on the grooming fit at /dog-grooming-software/.
Pricing model (as of September 2026): preview the proposed workspace, then pay; no free tier; waitlist during pre-launch.

How to choose
If your day is dominated by scheduling and no-shows, choose on booking and reminders. Every dedicated tool here sends reminders; the difference is what texting costs once you pass the included bundle.
If you drive a van, routing is the feature. MoeGo, Pawfinity, Groomsoft and GrooMore all describe mobile editions or mapping on their sites. Square and Ifa have nothing for routes.
If you are adding a second groomer this year, read the seat rules. Pawfinity and Groomsoft are flat. MoeGo Basic stops at two members. DaySmart charges per extra user above the tier’s allowance. GrooMore Standard caps at three staff.
If you are switching from another tool, ask two questions first: will they import my clients and pets, and can I export everything as a plain file later? Pawfinity and Groomsoft say yes to import; Pawfinity also says yes to CSV export. MoeGo and Gingr offer assisted transfer.
If what you actually want is a proper file for every dog that your whole team can see, and you are comfortable booking by phone or message for now, Ifa is worth a look when it opens. If you need clients booking themselves tonight, it is not.
Questions people ask
What is the best dog grooming software for a mobile groomer?
As of September 2026, MoeGo, Pawfinity, Groomsoft and GrooMore all sell a mobile edition or describe route mapping on their own sites. MoeGo prices mobile per van from $49 per month; Groomsoft’s mobile plan is $39.90 per month flat; Pawfinity’s flat plan includes mapping; GrooMore’s Standard mobile plan is $49 per month for one van.
Is there free dog grooming software?
Square Appointments has a free plan, but its customer record has no pet profile. No dedicated grooming tool here publishes a permanent free plan. Groomsoft gives 30 days free, DaySmart Pet 14 days, Pawfinity 7 days, and GrooMore says you can start free without a credit card. Ifa has no free tier.
Do I need online booking?
Most groomers who add it keep it, because it ends the phone tag. A shop booked out six weeks needs it less than a new shop does.
Can I move my client list from a spreadsheet?
Yes with every tool here, but the method differs. Pawfinity and Groomsoft say the import is free and done for you. DaySmart Pet and GrooMore do not describe it on their sites, so ask. Ifa imports CSV and Excel files through a preview with duplicate and date checks before anything is written.
How much should grooming software cost a one-groomer shop?
Published starting prices as of September 2026 run from about $30 to $80 per month for a single groomer across the dedicated tools here, before texting bundles and card processing.
